How can we tell if jaundice has subsided?

How can we tell if jaundice has subsided?

Generally speaking, the disappearance of jaundice can be judged from the lighter urine color, changes in skin color and sclera.

1. Urine color becomes lighter: When jaundice subsides, the first thing that happens is that the urine color becomes lighter. Because urine color is the most intuitive and easiest to find whitening, parents or patients can judge whether jaundice has begun to subside by observing the urine color.

2. Skin color changes: As jaundice subsides, the skin color will gradually turn white. Generally speaking, it starts from the distal extremities, gradually to the proximal extremities, then to the trunk, and finally to the head and face. However, this process is not absolute and may vary due to individual differences.

3. Scleral changes: The yellowing of the sclera is a significant manifestation of jaundice. Since the deposits on the sclera are difficult to remove, the fading of the yellowing of the sclera is often the last stage of the disappearance of jaundice. When the sclera turns completely white, it usually means that the jaundice has basically disappeared.

At the same time, during the process of jaundice disappearing, the patient's condition should be closely observed and treatment and care should be carried out according to the doctor's instructions.
