How to diagnose pneumonia in children

How to diagnose pneumonia in children

Neonatal pneumonia is a common respiratory disease. When babies suffer from pneumonia, they will have different complications, with high morbidity and mortality rates. It is widely transmitted and if not treated in time, it will endanger the baby's life. There are many types of neonatal pneumonia. Here we will introduce how to judge pediatric pneumonia.

Aspiration pneumonia

Milk inhalation is usually caused by coughing during feeding, with milk flowing out of the mouth and nose, accompanied by shortness of breath, cyanosis, etc. In severe cases, suffocation may occur.

Most people who inhale amniotic fluid or meconium will suffocate, and experience rapid breathing or difficulty breathing during resuscitation or after birth, accompanied by groaning and cyanosis.

Among them, patients with meconium aspiration are in a more serious condition and may suffer from respiratory failure, emphysema, atelectasis, pulmonary hypertension and central nervous system manifestations of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. If complicated with pneumothorax and mediastinal emphysema, the condition will suddenly worsen and even lead to death.

diagnosis

The diagnosis is based mainly on medical history and features of lung X-rays.

Early-onset pneumonia is often accompanied by a low Apgar score and a history of perinatal complications, such as premature rupture of membranes, premature birth, placental abruption, dystocia, forceps delivery, and aspiration.

Increased secretions aspirated from the endotracheal tube often indicate nosocomial pneumonia, which often develops gradually.

Through the above knowledge of prevention of pneumonia in children, everyone should know that the course of neonatal pneumonia is difficult to treat. If not treated in time, it will cause respiratory distress and even suffocation. In severe cases, it will cause brain damage due to lack of oxygen, leaving permanent sequelae and difficult to cure. He will also have different complications. Once the baby suffers from pneumonia, the child's physical condition will decline. Pneumonia is a common disease. As long as pediatric pneumonia is discovered and treated effectively in time, the sick child can recover quickly. However, severe cases are prone to the following complications. If treatment is not timely, the prognosis is poor. Parents should do early detection and early treatment to avoid worsening of the disease.
