How to check for ADHD

How to check for ADHD

The healthy growth of children is very important, but many children will have ADHD, which makes them more impulsive and willful. Nowadays, if many children have ADHD, most of them will have obvious symptoms. So, what is the examination method for ADHD? Everyone needs to pay attention to it.

First, the EEG

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a common way to check ADHD. The so-called EEG mainly refers to the spontaneous brain activity recorded when a person is in a resting state. Generally speaking, after EEG examination, 50% of ADHD children were found to have abnormal EEGs, while only 10-15% of normal children had mild abnormalities. Children with ADHD had moderate abnormalities and epileptic activities.

Secondly, the finger-pointing test

The finger-pointing test is a common method for examining children with ADHD. The specific examination method is to ask the child with ADHD to clench a fist with one hand and use the thumb of the other hand to touch the fingertips of other fingers in turn. After completing this action, change hands and continue to repeat the previous action. When completing the action, if the child's movements are incoherent and inflexible, the diagnosis may be positive.

3. Finger-to-nose test

The finger-to-nose test is important for the examination of ADHD in children. The specific test method is: first use the left index finger, and then use the right index finger to point to the tip of your nose, and point to the nose 5 times with eyes open and closed. At this time, observe the child's coordination and speed in the process of pointing to the nose. Children with ADHD often move too heavily and clumsily, especially when they close their eyes, the mistakes are more obvious.
